Summer Funfest Fitness Contest

Susser Petroleum Company held their end of program luncheon for their Summer Funfest Fitness Contest on Friday, August 11th.  The program's goal was to promote fitness for SPC employees while also raising funds to benefit the Children's Miracle Network.

The program ran for 13 weeks beginning in May and ending the first week of August. There were 197 total hours spent by 13 individuals who spent some time in improving their health by exercising either in the fitness room, the gym, or home equipment.  The rookie of the contest, who also had the most minutes through a consistent walking program, was Cal McIntosh, Vice President of Business Development.

Special guest at the luncheon included, Katie L. Kalenda, Director of Development of the Children’s Miracle Network in cooperation with Texas Children’s Hospital and Debbie Williams the mother of Kourtney Williams who passed from leukemia this last spring.  Debbie works in the SPC accounting department.

On behalf Texas Children’s Miracle Network, Katie expressed her appreciation to the Susser Family in Corpus and Houston for raising funds for Texas Children’s Hospital.  She praised this support in three areas:

  • The Stripes locations in Houston that raised over $1200
  • Over $10,000 raised from just 47 locations in cooperation with the Chevron locations in the Susser Petroleum family during the June campaign
  • The $395 contributed from the efforts of the Susser Petroleum Fitness Program.

Debbie Williams was proud to be honored by the Susser Family. She expressed appreciation for the generous heartfelt and selfless effort everyone made for children’s cancer research.
