Driscoll Childrens Miracle Network Telethon
Each year Stripes customers and employees join forces and raise money for Driscoll Children’s Hospital through the in-store sale of balloon mobiles. Stripes began supporting the Children’s Miracle Network of Driscoll Children’s Hospital in 1994. Since then, Stripes has donated $633,064. The checks have been presented to the Hospital each year during their Telethon, which occurs every Memorial Day weekend. During the telethon, Stripes employees donate a little time and a lot of love as they man the phone lines and accept callers’ pledges.
This year's Children's Miracle Network mobile campaign was an exciting campaign for Stripes employees and CMN representatives. Wonderful incentives such as pizza parties, team lunches and dinners, hotel stays, and trips were offered by CMN, but it was the children who would benefit from the monies raised that fueled our associates to raise funds $1 at a time. Creativity was not missing this year. There was an auction for a basketball from the Texas A & M University - Corpus Christi Men's Basketball team, dinners, bicycles, and more. The friendly competition and sales challenges between Divisions and Areas was enough to grow sales of the CMN mobiles to an all-time high. Stripes associates collected over $65,000 more over the previous year by collecting a grand total of $196,937. The Coastal Bend Division met their average store sales challenge and sold enough mobiles to be able to send their Division Manager, Mario Mungia, to the next Children's Miracle Network grand event in Orland, Florida to be held in 2009.
Congratulations to everyone that made this year's CMN mobile campaign the most successful, and a special THANK YOU to the volunteers that helped at the Telethon during the phone bank hour!
